PURPOSE: A construction method an underground tunnel using a steel tube is provided to prevent the subsidence of an excavation section by improving stiffness enough to bear earth pressure, to minimize the outflow of soil or underground water to a gap between two adjacent steel tubes, and to construct an underground tunnel gradually. CONSTITUTION: A construction method an underground tunnel using a steel tube comprises the steps of: excavating an excavation space as much as the appointed section; cutting out a portion of press-fitted steel tubes as much as the appointed section; stopping up a gap(G) between the exposed steel tubes with a shield plate(50) and coupling by welding; installing vertical support beams(20), which support upper steel tube(10e,10f) and lower steel tubes(10a) face to face with each other, to the right and left sides in the excavation section; installing an upper horizontal support beam, which supports two upper steel tubes face to face with each other, in the excavation section; installing a lower horizontal support beam(40), which supports two lower steel tubes face to face with each other, in the excavation section.
