A selvedge forming device for a shuttleless loom comprises an eyed needle 15 for laying an independent thread into the edge of the shed and a retaining needle 23 for holding a loop of the thread whilst the needle 15 is withdrawn. The loop of thread is then beatenup with the weft. The tip of the needle 15 is caused to move in a helical path by a cam and follower 2, 3 and a sleeve 12 with a pin 13 engaging a slot 14. The needle 23 is moved backwards and forwards by a cam and follower 16, 17 and up and down by a cam and follower 26, 27. |
