The method involves radiating a sensor by fixed electronic transmitting and receiving units (1) using a directional antenna in course of a track, where the transmitting and receiving units are installed in a train. A signal radiated by the transmitting unit is received by the sensor, and the radiated signal is again radiated with different frequency. Intensity of the returned signal is determined based on a medium that directly surrounds the sensor. A determination is made whether function of the sensor is changed by burying based on strength of the reflected signal.
