PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing carried ruthenium oxide excellent in catalytic activity and heat stability and a method for manufacturing chlorine using the carried ruthenium oxide obtained by the method. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing carried ruthenium oxide includes a carrying step of carrying a ruthenium compound-containing liquid on a carrier containing one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of titania, alumina, and silica; a drying step of drying the carrier carrying the ruthenium compound-containing liquid in reduced pressure; and a firing step of firing the carrier carrying the ruthenium compound obtained in the drying step. The method for manufacturing chlorine includes a step of oxidizing hydrogen chloride with oxygen in the presence of the carried ruthenium oxide manufactured by the method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
