PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To open a door by pulling a door handle even if the door outer panel of the door is deformed so as to extend outward at the time of collision. SOLUTION: The door 10 for an automobile is configured so that a door lock mechanism is operated for locking when an operation for closing the door opening part of the automobile is performed and the locking operation is released when the pulling operation of the door handle 25 is transmitted to the door lock mechanism through a transmission mechanism. A reinforcement 30 for reinforcing the outer panel from the inside is fixed to the outer panel along the lower side of a window 13. The reinforcement 30 is configured so as to be deformable easier at a position 32 apart from the door handle 25 than at the other positions 34, 35 so that the deformation of the outer panel at the door handle mounting position can be suppressed when receiving an impact load in the direction along the reinforcement 30.
