The exhaust gas treatment device (10) has an exhaust gas pipe (5), a silicon-controlled rectifier catalyst (11) and a dosing valve (13) in a supply line (4) for inlet of a gaseous reduction medium in the exhaust gas pipe. A storage container (3) is separated in two partial volumes in the form of a central container (8) and a reservoir (6) with different storage substances for the reduction medium. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an exhaust gas treatment device.
