The battery (1) has battery cells (2) connected with one another in series and/or in parallel by a cell connector (11) and comprising a triangular or square cross-section. A cooling plate (5) is connected with the battery cells in a heat-conducting manner and is provided for tempering the battery cells. The battery cells are thermally insulated from each other along its longitudinal axes by an insulation unit that is formed as a mold and made from thermally non-conducting and/or electrically non-conducting material e.g. glass or ceramic fibers.
