PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove NO<SB>x</SB>from exhaust gas without deteriorating the combustion efficiency when an SCR system is used to remove NO<SB>x</SB>in the exhaust gas of a marine Diesel engine equipped with a supercharger. SOLUTION: A body 12 of a 2-cycle marine Diesel engine has an exhaust gas passage furnished with the supercharger 18, and at downstream of the supercharger 18 an SCR catalyst converter 28 is installed. An engine body controller 36 is input with difference between a target value of the turbine outlet exhaust gas temperature of the supercharger 18 and a measured value thereof and an engine load signal. On the basis of a correlation map set previously, the controller 36 controls actuators 38 for an exhaust valve and a fuel injection valve, and controls the exhaust gas temperature flowing into the SCR catalyst converter 28 to the activation temperature of the SCR catalyst by correcting the fuel injection mode including the exhaust valve opening/closing timing and the fuel injection timing.
