PURPOSE: A method for determining road surface is provided to determine the state of road surface on driving accurately by checking the determination of the asymmetry road using the deceleration. CONSTITUTION: The method for determining road surface includes the steps of: measuring the wheel speed and deceleration when driving the vehicle(300); determining whether the drive road of the vehicles is the asymmetry road based on the of the wheel speed(302); checking the determination of the asymmetry road according to the deceleration, when the driving road surface is determined as the asymmetry road(306,312); calculating the slip of the speed from the difference of the wheel speed and velocity of vehicle; remove the determination of the asymmetry road by determinating that deceleration has entered into the high friction road surface if the deceleration is bigger than the limit value(B) of the high friction road surface comparing the deceleration to the limit value(B) of the decided high friction road surface(308,310); remove the determination of the asymmetry road by determinating that deceleration has entered into the low friction road surface if the deceleration is smaller than the limit value(C) of the low friction road surface comparing the deceleration to the limit value(C) of the decided low friction road surface(314,310); and confirming that the determination of the asymmetry road is right, when the deceleration is under the limit value(B) and over the limit value(C)(316). |
