PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminescent device capable of representing a variety of emission patterns in a simple device configuration and facilitating installation work. SOLUTION: This luminescent device stores the same blinking control pattern data in a number of light-emitting units connected in series, so that each light-emitting unit can read out the blinking control pattern data for emission blinking. On receiving a synchronizing signal from the last connected light-emitting unit, each light-emitting unit changes the read-out position of light-emitting control pattern data according to an offset value set in the light-emitting unit for emission blinking. The synchronizing signal is superimposed on a blink activation signal to be output from the controller of each light-emitting unit to an emitter, so that the emitter can be used as a transmission path for emission propagation to the next light-emitting unit. The synchronizing signal is also superimposed on the blink activation signal through frequency modulation at a cycle timing with a pulse representing that emission is ON in a duration of the blink activation signal.
