An apparatus (30) for cooling a cured tire comprising retractable support member (32) having a distal end connected to a support plate (60). The support plate (60) has at least one inflatable bladder (70) extending about or at least partially about its circumferential edge. The retractable support member (32) is rotatable about an axis. Furthermore, a tire building press including this apparatus and a method of manufacturing a tire using this apparatus is disclosed.
