PURPOSE: An audio output device and method in an image display device are provided to remove the need of a separate rear speaker configuration. CONSTITUTION: A rear audio generator(410) creates rear audio. A rear audio processor(400) controls a rear audio signal to be outputted to rear speakers(315,320). An LED controller(440) controls the flash of LED by sensing the rear audio signal. According to the control signal of the LED controller, LED bars(350,355) put on and out LED according to the output of the rear audio. Speakers(305~335) outputs the audio signal.
