<p>A data decoding method and device with a decoder (116) are disclosed, in which an AV stream containing at least video data is decoded, in accordance with program information (Movie atom) that contains positional information as to the AV stream. In the method, the AV stream and program information (Movie atom) are recorded on a recoding medium (106), the AV stream is managed by a single file, and the program information (Movie atom) contains entry information (Entry #1, Entry #2) each corresponding to a section that is capable of reproducing consecutively in the AV stream. The method comprising the steps of: transferring the file from the recording medium (106) to the decoder (116); starting of decoding of the file in the decoder (116); determining a point of junction in the file based on a change of the entry information (Entry #1, Entry #2), and upon decoding of the file, halting the decoding of the file at the point of junction.</p> |
