A boiler for connection to a heating plant, comprises a water jacket 10 defining a space containing partitions 18, 19 which form a combustion chamber 20, transfer chambers 23 and an outlet chamber 24, the partitions 19 defining with the jacket 10, gaps 29 along each of their edges such that combustion gases flow in succession through chambers 20, 23, 24. The partitions 19 are spaced from a lower wall by channel members 26, 27 to form the gaps 29 and have slideways 28 to engage the partition 18. The combustion gases are formed by a burner in a bearer (21), Fig. 2 (not shown), and pass out through a firebox (25) to a fluepipe of the heating plant, the burner bearer being mounted on a door (22) through which the partitions 18, 19 are inserted and assembled. The jacket 10, which has cylindrical side walls 11, 12, is connected to the heating plant by outlet and return pipes 16, 17 respectively.
