PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a method of driving the same are provided to apply a common voltage according to the brightness of an image to a common electrode in which an array substrate is formed. CONSTITUTION: In a liquid crystal display device and a method of driving the same, an image analysis part(400) decides whether the brightness of an image is less than a reference level or not. A selection switch(510) selects a first common voltage when the brightness of the image is higher than the reference level. The selection switch selects a second common voltage when the brightness of the image is less than the reference level. The first common electrode is formed on the array substrate. A pixel electrode is arranged in a plurality of pixel regions.
