PURPOSE: A burst mode receiver and a timing control method thereof are provided to perform differential conversion of burst packets having wide area input strength in the quick and exact timing. CONSTITUTION: A differential signal converter(200) converts the single voltage signal of a transimpedance amplifier(100) into a differential information signal. A gain controller(400) creates a gain control signal for the control of the gain value of the transimpedance amplifier. A burst detection unit(500) creates a burst sensing signal for the start timing of each burst packet. A controller(600) creates a control signal through an external MAC reset signal, the gain control signal, and the burst sensing signal.
