The present invention relates to a steam iron with a simple constitution and novel configuration, that is convenient to maintain and highly usable since it can be used to immediately generate steam on-demand and effectively discharge the generated steam, and it allows easy inspection and replacement of parts. According to the present invention, a steam iron comprises: a bottom plate (10) formed with a steam discharge hole (12); a heater (20) provided above the bottom plate (10) and operated by means of an external power supply; a steam generating block (40) which is provided in an upper portion of the heater (20) and on the inside of which is formed an evaporation chamber (42) where water supplied from a water supply source (30) is evaporated by means of the heater (20); a water supplying pump (50) which is provided between the water supply source (30) and the steam generating block (40) and which forcibly supplies water from the water supply source (30) to the steam generating block (40); a check valve (60) which is disposed between the water supplying pump (50) and the evaporation chamber (42) and which prevents reverse flow of steam generated in the evaporation chamber (42) or water that has flowed into the evaporation chamber (42); and a steam discharge conduit (70) connecting the evaporation chamber (42) with the steam discharge hole (12) of the bottom plate (10) to discharge steam generated in the evaporation chamber (42) through the steam discharge hole (12). |
