PURPOSE: Encoding and decoding apparatus and method are provided to obtain superior performance by reducing the complexity of encoding and decoding operations and the number of the operations. CONSTITUTION: The input interface receives data stream. A processor maps the received data stream to a corresponding codeword. The output interface outputs the codeword. The processor maps the packet of the data stream which is received using encoding scheme corresponding to a corresponding parity check matrix, induced in a bipartite protograph, to the corresponding codeword. Each packet is composed of the sequence of a packet symbol. Each codeword is composed of the sequence of a codeword symbol. The bipartite protograph is composed of a plurality of groups of nodes and a plurality of second check nodes in the step n.
