PURPOSE: A device and a method for blocking a driving current of a motor are provided to protect a device driver and a system by blocking an over current. CONSTITUTION: A detector detects an over current by comparing the current flowing in a motor with a current limit value. If the current flowing in the motor is above the current limit value, a signal processor(110) outputs a signal for stopping the motor. The signal processor includes a first chip which receives a control signal for driving the motor. A comparator(120) compares a reference voltage with a sensing voltage measured by using a current generated according to the motor driving voltage provided to the motor. A logic operator(130) inputs the operation signal logically operated according to the comparison result of the comparator to the signal processor.
