METHOD OF GENERATING LIGHT PULSE AND DEVICE FOR REALISING SAID METHOD

FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: duration of an output light pulse is increased by transferring part of the energy of basic optical radiation over an optical communication channel into initiation energy in the working volume of an emitter of additional optical radiation to form an output light pulse of a given composite shape. The light source has an extra secondary light emitter with a working volume filled with fluorescent gas. The secondary light emitter is optically connected to a primary light emitter by at least one light transmitting channel having a transmission spectrum which corresponds to gas-discharge fluorescence of the primary emitter, where the light transmitting channel is in contact with the window of the primary emitter outside a diaphragm. At the output of the light transmitting channel there is a device for converting the light pulse transmitted over the channel to a pulse which initiates gas fluorescence in the working volume of the secondary light emitter. In particular, the pulsed light source may employ a light guide as the light transmitting channel. The device for converting the light pulse to an initiating pulse can be an optical detonator whose chamber can be filled with a gas-explosive mixture. ^ EFFECT: high information capacity of the method within one output light pulse, provision for conditions for optimum use of energy capacity of an energy storage and high coefficient of converting energy of this storage into energy of the light pulse. ^ 2 cl, 2 dwg
