PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for receiving a broadcasting signal are provided to classify plural channels according to resolution and perform a switching operation depending on a classification result. CONSTITUTION: A broadcasting receiving device receives a data stream including a broadcasting signal(300), and extracts PIDs(Packet Identifications) for the channels which are broadcasted from the received data stream(310). By using the extracted PIDs, the broadcasting receiving device requires the resolution information on each channel. According to each resolution, the broadcasting receiving device classifies the channels(320).
