A method for inhibiting the reproductive potential and harmfulness of populations of the currant borer moth includes using entomophages. In autumn, at the end of a vegetation period, in currant and gooseberry plantations sanitation pruning of fructifying bushes of berry-fields is carried out cutting physiologically inadequate branches and shoots. The branches cut-off are dissected in the laboratory conditions, diapausing cocoons of the parasite of caterpillars of the currant borer moth Macrocentrus marginator Nees are taken out and identified. Cocoons of the parasite are kept in the state of diapause up to the beginning of spring reactivation of the currant borer moth. In the period of the beginning of feeding of the wintered caterpillars of the currant borer moth two settlings on bushes of cocoons of the parasite Macrocentrus are carried out with an interval of 10-12 days in an equivalent of 10-12 cocoons per bush. In the period of the beginning of mass egg-laying of females of the currant borer moth three settlings on berry-fields, with an interval of 6-7 days, of Trichogramma, the species Trichogramma dendrolimi Mats., are carried out in an equivalent of 50, 80 and 50 females per bush. |
