PURPOSE: A forging method and apparatus for a gear are provided to reduce friction and improve the precision of a spline part because a punch is moved up and down with an inner cylinder so that lubricating oil is provided between the punch and a work piece. CONSTITUTION: A forging method for a gear comprises steps of: cutting a bar-shaped material to a certain length(S10), pressing the material from the top and the bottom into the shape of disk(S20), forming the exterior of the material with top and bottom molds to obtain a semi-product(S30), forming a vertical through hole in the center of the semi-product(S40), and forming teeth on the outer surface of the semi-product and the inner surface of the through hole(S50).
