The pillar has a hollow body made of sheet metal and comprising a front wall connected to a front wing liner of a motor vehicle. A rear wall of the body has a lower part connected to a longeron and an upper part connected to a crossbeam of a fascia. A front zone is not deformed during a frontal shock of the vehicle realized in normalized conditions at a speed equal to 64 kilometer per hour, and is formed of a steel sheet box. A middle zone is deformed in a predetermined manner during the shock, and a rear zone is not deformed during the shock.
