The beacon emits a visible optical signal (310), thereby transmitting location data. The beacon for communication using light from the visible spectrum has a lamp (30) for illuminating the road and a device (31) for communication using light from the visible spectrum, both mounted on a lamp-post (3). A vehicle (1) has a camera and a device (10) for locating the vehicle.
