PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously attain the reduction in overall size of a device and the improvement in power generation efficiency thereof. SOLUTION: The power generation device includes a carrying chain 12 annularly laid between a pair of an upper gear 13 and a lower gear 14 provided in vertical direction; a power generator 21 connected to the rotating shaft of at least one of the gears 13 and 14 to generate power according to the rotation of the one gear 13, 14; a plurality of containers 15 provided on the carrying chain 12 at predetermined intervals with the bottom being turned in a cyclically moving direction of the chain; a flow passage having a water level height adjusted between at least the upper gear 13 and the lower gear 14; a supply pipe 5 for supplying water to a container 15a located at a predetermined position above the water level from above; and a chamber 17 for supplying bubbles to a container 15b located at a predetermined position below the water level from below. The carrying chain 12 cyclically moves between the upper gear 13 and the lower gear 14 based on the gravity of the water supplied to the containers 15 through the supply pipe 5 and the buoyancy of the bubbles supplied to the containers 15 to thereby rotate the gears 13 and 14.
