Plastics material, esp. foam, is produced from coal decompsn. prod. (I) by blowing or foaming a compsn. contg. 5-80 (20-70)% (I), 10-85 (15-50)% curable crosslinking cpd. (II) and 10-40 (10-25)% finely-divided particulate filler and curing (II). The prod. can be used as substitute for polyurethane foam or wooden blocks or as slabs or boards, esp. for roofing. It has good strength and impact strength, resistance to water, microbiological attack and degradation; is cheap; and is simple to mfr. (II) is a curable or vulcanisable rubber or a synthetic resin. The compsn. also contains a blowing agent. The prod. contains >=25 (>=60) vol.% cells. |
