<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more smoothly carry and recover developer on a developer carrying surface. <P>SOLUTION: A developer supply device includes a developer carrying member, a conveyance substrate, and a voltage application means. The conveyance substrate includes a plurality of conveyance electrodes arranged along a direction intersecting the direction of main scanning, and is configured in such a manner that developer is conveyed in the direction of developer conveyance by an electric field generated by applying travelling-wave-like multiphase AV voltage to these conveyance electrodes. The conveyance substrate is disposed in such a manner that its end in the direction of developer conveyance faces the developer carrying member.
