PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for safely and efficiently manufacturing an N-ethyl-N-t-butyl-1,3-benzothiazole-2-sulfenamide which has low bioconcentration performance, generates no carcinogenic nitrosamine and is a vulcanization accelerator having performance equal to DCBS designated as an observed chemical substance, by a first kind of Law Concerning Examination and Regulation of the Manufacture. SOLUTION: N-ethyl-N-t-butyl-1,3-benzothiazole-2-sulfenamide is safely and easily manufactured in high yield by mixing a 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, an ethyl-t-butylamine and hypochlorite in a water solvent in which water-soluble inorganic salts such as metallic sulfates or metallic halides are dissolved or suspended.
