SOLUTION: A printer includes a recording head 21 capable of injecting ink to a recording medium P, a support part 27a for supporting the recording medium P, a carriage 19 for holding the recording head 21, and constituted to be displaceable along a displacing direction Z with a separation distance varied with respect to the support part 27a, an electrode member 44 arranged in a position separated by a defined distance L2 from the support part 27a, in the displacing direction Z, and a CPU for clocking, as a flying time, a time until shot to the electrode member 44 after injecting an ink droplet, and for computing the platen gap PG that is the separation distance of the recording head 21 with respect to the support part 27a, based on the flying time.
