PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder which avoids a lowering of throughput and deterioration of recording quality without consuming unnecessary power, and a method for controlling the image recorder. SOLUTION: The image recorder performs a recording in a recording medium by discharging inks from a plurality of nozzles based on image data in the course where a conveying part for carrying the recording medium carries the recording medium. The image recorder includes an ink detection part for detecting the temperature of the ink and an ink temperature control part which has an ink temperature comparing part for making a judgement by comparing the detected ink temperature with a standard temperature defined beforehand. The ink temperature control part determines a warming drive nozzle range where a drive signal for hardly making the ink discharged is applied to a non-recording nozzle based on the comparison result of the ink temperature comparing part. During the operation of recording, the drive signal for hardly making the ink discharged is applied to the non-recording nozzle within the warming drive nozzle range. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
