PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control transmitter which is easy to use and performs a variety of operation, with respect to the remote control transmitter used mainly for operating various electronic appliances. SOLUTION: A light emitting means 17 is provided on a back surface of an operation key and the prescribed light emitting means 17 is lighted by a control means 16 in response to a response signal from the remote control receiver 21, thereby only operation keys necessary for remote operation are illuminated brightly and the operation keys necessary for operation do not need to be searched for from among a plurality of operation keys in selecting or determining a plurality of menus 12 displayed at the display means 7.
