PURPOSE: A three-layer coated three-component catalyst is provided to prevent the activation degradation of the catalyst from poisoning, by avoid being exposed to engine oil. CONSTITUTION: A three-layer coated three-component catalyst comprises the following: a bottom layer formed with an oxygen-storing material; a middle layer formed with rhodium, on the upper side of the bottom layer; and a top layer formed with one compound selected from the group consisting of palladium or platinum, on the middle layer. The bottom layer also contains the palladium inside the oxygen-storing material.
