<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter having small power loss. <P>SOLUTION: A microcomputer 20 exerts on/off control for N-channel MOS transistors 42 and 43 and IGBT 7 and 10 in a low-current region, in which the saturation voltage of the N-channel MOS transistors 42 and 43 is lower than that of the IGBT 6 and 9 and exerts on/off control for IGBT6, 7, 9, and 10, in a high-current region in which the saturation voltage of the IGBT6 and 9 is lower than that of the N-channel MOS transistors 42 and 43.
