<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt fixing type fixing device capable of exactly detecting temperature abnormality that a resistance heating body gets in an overheat state, in a state where malfunction is prevented by an overheat prevention element, preventing a situation that the resistance heating body gets in an overheat state to cause fuming and burning, and thereby securing high safety. <P>SOLUTION: A heating member 211 which is a heating source for heating a fixing belt 25 has a heating layer 212, comprising the resistance heating body 301 energized to generate heat. Then, the resistance heating body 301 includes a paper-passing area part 301a, and a detection part 301b provided at the end in an axis line direction of the heating member 211 and electrically connected to the paper-passing area part 301a in parallel.
