PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an actuator which can alternatively adjust a lumbar support to before and behind and vertical positions by a single actuator. SOLUTION: In the actuator 1 for the lumbar support of a seat for a vehicle, a first switching gear and a second switching gear are driven by a solenoid or a small motor, thereby one rotation of an internal tooth gear and a discoid plate by an electric motor 2 is alternatively prevented or permitted, and the internal tooth gear and the discoid plate can alternatively be rotated by the single electric motor 2.
