PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve contrast by reducing the absorption loss of incident light in a liquid crystal display sheet having a liquid crystal layer controlled into a planar arrangement or focal conic arrangement by applying voltage thereon. SOLUTION: The display equipment 10 is provided with: the liquid crystal display sheet 11; and a circularly-polarized light source 19 arranged on the outside of the liquid crystal display sheet 11 and constituted so that a spiral direction of a spiral structure 17 of the liquid crystal layer 14 having the planar arrangement is aligned with a circular polarization direction of circularly-polarized light 20 to be emitted from the circularly-polarized light source 19.
