The invention relates to a novel flexible sheet of vegetable-fibre fabric, to a method for producing same, and to the uses thereof, said sheet being formed as a natural, flexible, fibrillated, planar sheet with a variable thickness, provided as a square or rectangle or any other shape with variable dimensions, translucent, elastically deformable and capable of taking on various tones, being bleached or dyed, and sanded and varnished like wood. The method comprises the steps of collecting leaf sheaths from the palm tree species in question, recovering fibres from said leaf sheaths, softening and cleaning the leaves, pressing and drying the latter between rigid plates, removing residual filaments, and finally cutting the finished product to standard dimensions. The sheet of the invention can be used directly or adhered to other surfaces, or protected with varnish or with layers of glass or plastic. The invention can be used in the textile industry.
