<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire grid polarizer which reduces reflection by grid lines and has a structure which is simpler than those of conventional types. <P>SOLUTION: In the wire grid polarizer, a large number of metal wires serving as the grid lines are disposed in parallel on a substrate at an interval shorter than the wavelength of light, and the surfaces of the grid lines are laminated with a layer formed of one or more semiconductor compounds selected from among a group consisting of metal nitrides, metal arsenides, metal phosphorus compounds, and compounds of metal and antimony. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
