PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire which is satisfactory in requirements of more heavy overweight, higher velocity and higher life, which is excellent in adhesion durability in between a steel code and a coating rubber in a carcass section even under oppressive condition, and which is excellent in durability. SOLUTION: The pneumatic tire A is equipped with a carcass 4 consisting of one or more sheets of carcass plies and a belt consisting of one or more sheets of belt layers 6 placed in the outer side of the tire radius direction of the carcass 4, which includes a layer consisting of a steel code covered with a coating rubber. The coating rubber for covering the steel code of the carcass 4 is prepared by using a rubber composition including a rubber component, sulfur, and a vulcanization accelerator represented by a specific general formula (for example, a sulfenamide-based vulcanization accelerator having a sulfenamide group at the second position of a benzothiazole group).
