<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact optical filter which attains a large detected light quantity, a wide spectrum band and small number of optical elements and to provide an imaging apparatus using the optical filter. <P>SOLUTION: The optical filter 202 has a function of controlling the phase difference between two orthogonal polarized light components and includes: a liquid crystal layer 1024 which gives the phase difference to the two orthogonal polarized light components; and a dielectric substrate 1021 which supports the liquid crystal layer 1024, wherein a polarized light selection structure 1025 composed of a metallic fine pattern having a size not larger than the wavelength of incident light is provided on the boundary face or on the inner face of the dielectric substrate 1021, thus the detected light quantity is increased, the spectrum band is broadened and the number of the optical components is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
