<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatization method for simultaneously producing an aromatic compound such as benzene and naphthalene and hydrogen gas by using a lower hydrocarbon such as natural gas. <P>SOLUTION: A catalyst for aromatizing the lower hydrocarbon comprises at least one of rhenium and compounds thereof and, if desired, at least one of zinc, Ga, Co and iron and compounds thereof as catalytic materials and is obtained by depositing the catalytic materials on porous metallosilicate having pores of 4.5-6.5 Å diameter. Since the catalytic ability is improved drastically, aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene, xylene and naphthalene and hydrogen can be produced particularly efficiently from lower hydrocarbons. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
