PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support system for a vehicle for calling obstacle's and vehicle side driver's attentions by operating the alarm means for the other vehicle side to an obstacle such as a pedestrian existing at a position where it is difficult to notify the pedestrian of a risk by emitting visible rays of light from the own vehicle side by an alarm means. SOLUTION: The driving support system for the vehicle includes: an obstacle detection means 14 for detecting an obstacle behind a shield; a risk decision means 15 for determining a risk to the own vehicle of the obstacle; and a transmission decision means 18 for creating and transmitting an operation request signal to operate a headlight 9 mounted on the other vehicle, and configured to transmit the operation request signal to operate the headlight 9 of the other vehicle by using a transmission and reception means for inter-vehicle communication with respect to an obstacle existing at a position where it is not possible to emit the rays of light by the headlight 9 of the own vehicle, and to call the own vehicle side driver's and the obstacle such as a pedestrian's attentions with perceptible visible rays of light.
