PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve throughput of a device on which a paper cutter drive device is mounted, in a paper cutter drive device having a cutter moved by a DC (direct-current) motor. SOLUTION: The paper cutter drive includes: the DC motor 15; a cutter 13 traveled between a cutting position and a non-cutting position including a home position by rotating the DC motor 15 in a predetermined direction to cut a paper sheet; an HP detection sensor 18 detecting that the cutter 13 is at the home position; a brake time storage part 313 storing a brake time of the DC motor 15; and a motor drive control part 19 executing a braking operation for a brake time to stop the drive of the DC motor 15. The paper cutter drive device further includes a brake time change means 311 changing the brake time. The brake time change means 311 changes the brake time, based on the detection result of the HP detection sensor 18 in the result of the execution of the braking operation by the motor drive control part 19.
