PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor including a stator iron core and an outer frame, in which a material for the stator iron core is not limited to a material other than a specific non-directional magnetic steel sheet, an air gap within the iron core or at a contact part between the iron core and the outer frame is not formed as an iron core structure, and an increase in core loss due to an effect of compressive stress generated in a circumferential direction of the stator along with attachment of the outer frame to the stator iron core is suppressed. SOLUTION: The electric motor includes: a stator 1 with the stator iron core having a plurality of teeth 2 configured by stacking stator iron core pieces made of a magnetic steel sheet and formed at intervals in the circumferential direction, and an annular yoke 3 serving as a main magnetic flux path connecting the respective teeth 2; and the outer frame 6 suitable for an outer periphery of the stator 1.
