PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for duplicating a hologram, the method bringing out the diffraction performance of an precursor and the modulation amount in the refractive index of a recording material as much as possible and duplicating a high-quality hologram; and to provide a hologram duplicated by the method. SOLUTION: The method includes steps of: stacking, in the order from one side, a transmissive holographic polymer dispersion liquid crystal element 1' that diffracts only p-polarized light, a half-wave plate 3, and a hologram material 2 for duplication; irradiating the transmissive holographic polymer dispersion liquid crystal element 1' with p-polarized reproducing illumination light 23 through the one side; splitting the reproducing illumination light 23 into first-order light 25 and zero-order light 24 by the transmissive holographic polymer dispersion liquid crystal element 1'; converting the first-order light 25 and the zero-order light 24 from p-polarized light into s-polarized light by the half-wave plate 3; and using the first-order light 25 converted into s-polarized light as an object light 26 and the zero-order light 24 converted into s-polarized light as reference light 27 to be incident on the hologram material 2 for duplication, so as to duplicate a transmissive hologram 2'.
