PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element capable of manufacturing an organic EL element having small changes of color to changes of luminance while restraining deterioration in the process of formation. SOLUTION: A manufacturing method for an organic EL element includes a substrate preparation process of preparing a substrate where a first electrode is arranged, a neighboring layer formation process of forming a neighboring layer on the substrate, a light-emitting layer formation process of forming respective light-emitting layers in order by an applying method at a sequence wherein the light-emitting layer with a longer peak wavelength among a plurality of light-emitting layers is arranged nearer to an electrode functioning as a positive electrode between first and second electrodes, and a second electrode formation process of forming the second electrode. Oxygen concentration and moisture concentration in a substrate atmosphere from starting of the neighboring layer formation process to completion of the light-emitting layer formation process are respectively maintained at less than atmospheric concentration as a volume ratio.
