PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: in UMTS TDD or FDD systems, in order to maintain proper performance of the system functions, SIB repetition rates may have to be increased to compensate for failed transmissions, which reduces radio resource efficiency and utilization. SOLUTION: There is provided a method for receiving (80) and processing a periodically transmitted segmented communication comprising information segments. A first transmitted information segment set is received and processed to determine whether each of the information segments is valid or invalid (81). The information segment decided as valid is stored (82). When all the information segments of the information segment set are not stored (83), subsequent transmissions of the information segment set are received (85), and only the information segment corresponding to the information segment that has not previously been stored is processed to determine whether it is valid or invalid. The information segment decided as valid is stored (82). Subsequent transmissions are repeatedly received until all the information segments of the information segment set are stored (85).
