PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling a magnetization state capable of restraining heat generation and reliably inducing magnetization inversion by applying a pulsed current having small current density to a magnetic material. SOLUTION: The method of controlling the magnetization state causes an anisotropic state inside a linear magnetic material to be altered by giving magnetic anisotropy of components in a direction vertical to a longitudinal direction of the linear magnetic material yielding shape magnetic anisotropy, applies a magnetic field in a forward or reverse direction for storing along a longitudinal direction of the linear magnetic material of which the anisotropic state has been altered, and applies a pulsed current for controlling the magnetization state.
