The process is carried out in the presence of aqueous solutions of inorganic bases and in an inert, hydrophobic organic solvent at -30 to +35 degrees, the reaction time being less than 1 minute. Preferably, the amine and phosgene are used in molar ratios of 1:1 to 1:20, especially, 1:1 to 1:8. Advantages are the short reaction time and the small amount of HCl formed. |
